History
Born, 1204 ad, just outside the village of Trondheim, to a woodsman (Jon) and his wife (Haela), Vitharr grew up with a keen love for the axe and wood working. Brought up with the faith of the Nordic Gods, Vitharr worships the god Tyr. When he was of age and had decided to travel his father bestowed him with a blade he had found on a battlefield as a young man. Vitharr worked to restore the blade to a good health but never lost hope of becoming a great axeman.
During his travels he encountered a merchant called Oleg One Eye on his way to Constantinople. Tagging along he quickly formed a friendship with Oleg’s son Orrusti. Vitharr practised swordplay alongside Orrusti & soon learned to respect his style of combat.
One day the caravan was ambushed by a group of Arabs. The battle was short and ugly; it was also Vitharr’s first real taste of combat. He had only survived thanks to the little training Oleg had given and by Orrusti watching his back, but he had loved it! Through battles fought alongside his ally Orrusti, Vitharr grew as a warrior.
Eventually he left the caravan & ventured out by himself. Travelling around Vitharr learnt little bits of many languages while hiring himself out as a mercenary. Throughout his travels he accumulated arms and armour from around the country whether by purchase, trade or plunder. Like the animals of the forest he would acquire what he wanted & fashion it to what he needed.
Now residing in Constantinople Vitharr is still training. No matter how long you have been fighting you will always learn new things on the battlefield and he wants to be ready for them.
