We hope that you had a enjoyable holiday period, training will be resuming on the 11th of January at the Colonel Lights Garden scout hall.

Following the SGM’s we have held recently, we have had some changes in the committee. Our new President is Michael. Our new Training Officer is Drew. We are currently in the process of drafting an Events Calendar for the following Financial Year.

Newsletter number 5 has amongst it’s contents, notice of a Special General Meeting to be held on October the 5th. On the Agenda will be tabling of the 2010/11 Financial Report, and a membership vote to allow/disallow renewing
membership of a past member. Be aware a Quorum will be required for the meeting. Also uploaded is a campsite map for the October Camp on the 1st to 3rd.
.

The Handakas Garrison will be running it’s annual October Camp in the stunning Mt Crawford forrest once again. It’s a low key event for NVG members to come spend time in kit, eat, fight, drink and be merry.

There will be food provided (for a fee, will be determined ASAP) and some tent space should be available for those that need it. There are onsite loos but no hard accomodation. Bring any fighting kit, Archery gear and current projects do it on site while we enjoy the long weekend. Site is booked from Saturday morning and pack up will be on Monday Afternoon.

Feel free to invite other members and spread the word a bit, more the merrier! If you’ll need food and tentspace we really need to know by the 21st of September! Thats the sign up cutoff date. You’ll still be welcome after that but we won’t be able to cater for you. Hope to see lots of you there!

You will note that I have added a new page for the revived newsletters; http://handakas.nvg.org.au/newsletters/.

Our AGM is being held this Wednesday (6/7/11). We are still accepting nominations for committee positions and submissions for the agenda. If you are attending please remember to bring a plate of period appropriate food/drink. If you are not attending please let us know.

It’s that time of the year again, and we need to hold our Annual General Meeting for this year. We intend to have it on the 29th of June which is in 4 weeks. Appologies for planned non-attendance should be sent to Jen via email or phone.

We need people to call nominations for the committee positions (you can nominate yourself or others, but be aware that if you nominate others they may decline). We would like to note that any member is eligible for nomination, and we are happy to support people in the roles whether they are first timers or old hands. If you have any questions about the positions themselves please approach current committee members, they will be happy to take any questions you may have.

The positions are as listed below, please send any nominations to Alex or Jen.

  • President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Events Coordinator
  • Training Officer
  • Webmaster

People should arrive at 7pm for a sharp 7:30 start

We also need to finalise the agenda, please send any agenda items to me or Jen; The cutoff date will be the 22nd of June.

As it is the end of the financial year soon, we need people to send in membership renewals, the final date for this is the 20th of July. The membership form is attached to this email and we are happy to take hard copies. Membership monies are currently $35 for the year (Fi is to confirm this with NVG Inc) This will be payable by cash or cheque/money order made directly to NVG Handakas.

We are currently planning to have Chips over on the weekend of the 11th and 12th of June for a Jewelry making workshop, this will be held at Jay and Hayleys house in Mitchell Park. This workshop will be run in a free flowing format, it is up to each individual about what you wish to work on. You can expect to walk away with a new peice of Jewerly if you wish, materials will be supplied but you need to bring money to pay for what you use. Further details will be made available closer to the event.

Due to popular demand, we have now implemented a Gallery. You will notice that there is now a tab called “Gallery” accessible from here.

We had yet another fantastic year at the Gumeracha Medieval Fair this year. We will have a write up about it in the coming weeks. In the mean time, one of our members, Steve, was filming at the fair for his Great Southern Stand show, you can watch it on his youtube channel.

Anyone who is camping with us please take note; Meals will be priced at $10 Per Person, Per Meal. We are not counting Breakfast in this pricing model, so anyone staying for all 3 meals (Sat Lunch, Sat Dinner, Sun Lunch) can expect to pay $30. This is payable to Jen BEFORE the fair, as she has indicated that she does not want to have to chase up people.
